Is there a God?
There are only two answers to this question for either there is a God or there is no God. In our search for the truth we must all start from the same point. One must believe in something like, we are here now and we must have come from somewhere. Now we search, did God create us or did we come from a rock?
For those that believe there is a God, they believe that God is the only uncaused entity in the universe. What one means by that is, the true God had no beginning and has no end and has no creator. There is nothing higher than God. God is not subject to time, space, or matter. In fact a believer in God believes that God created time, space, and matter and is above all and outside of all. He is everywhere all the time and if He wishes He can control and has the right to control all time, space and matter. This does take faith. No one has ever seen God or could one see God. How could a created finite being see an uncreated, infinite, eternal being? If one could see all of God, this type of God would not be much of a God.
For those that believe there is no God, this person probably believes in evolution. The evolutionist believes that time, space, and matter eternally existed and always will exist. The common thought among evolutionist is all matter that existed was in the size of the head a pin and it exploded 14 billion years ago. Then through time and chance this pin size matter turned into the universe we now know. This take faith to believe that time, space and matter always existed and always will exist.
It takes faith (search : What is faith?) to believe that there is a God and He cares about mankind. It also takes faith to believe that mankind came from a rock. The deist says mankind was created by God. The evolutionist says mankind came from a rock the size the head of a pin. One needs to have faith in one of these two to continue the search for the answer to meaning in life. There are many, in fact, most people don't care if there is a God or if mankind came from a rock. These people are not searching for meaning in life and are not interested in either of these questions. To those, we wish them well and if they ever come to a point to seek meaning and purpose come back. To the searcher read on.
A question that soon arises in our search is (Where does thought or the ability to reason come from in evolutionist model of creation?​). A physical object cannot create a soul or sprit being. (search : Is there a spirit world?) To evolutionists life has no meaning as mankind is just a higher form of tree or an ape. There would be no such thing as good or bad, right or wrong, love or hate. You have no spirit and after the body dies one's being no longer exists. One is nothing more than a higher form of plant life or animal life, better said "Humans are nothing more than highly evolved rocks".
To the believer in God, the soul was created by God and given the ability to think and reason. Humans are given a moral code by God of right or wrong, good or evil, and the freedom of choice.
